Information Technology and Engineering
The Department of Information Technology offers a four year undergraduate programme (B.Tech) in Information Technology. This undergraduate programme is of 4 years duration with the first year spread over two semesters which is common to all the branches. The intake capacity of the department is 60. The Department of Information Technology embodies the Institute's tradition of excellence as a world-class leader in IT education and research. IT sector is in a period of bloom in terms of growth and opportunity. In the current ever evolving industrial scenario contents delivered to the students are regularly updated by the faculty members who have themselves are well acquainted with path breaking research and innovations in the present technology-oriented world.
Vision of the Department
Mission of the Department
Lab Facilities
Ø Programming Lab
The basic thrust of the course would be to learn various programming languages and IDE.Itprovides accelerated introduction to practical aspects of programming and covers three areas:
1) Common programming tools, including Linux commands and compilers;
2) Basic programming techniques, including design, testing, and debugging; and
3) C programming, focusing on the major differences between C and Java.
Ø Data structure lab
The purpose of this lab is to guide the students in understanding the most widely used data structures such as list, trees, graphs, hash tables and the operations associated with them.
Ø Compiler lab
The main objective of this lab would be to familiarize with all the phases of a compiler and enable the students in analyzing the lex and yacc tools used for compilation.
Ø Hardware lab
The objective of this lab is to provide students with hands-on experience in Hardware’s, Software’s and Operating systems. This Lab is used for PC Assembly/Disassembly and HW/SW troubleshooting. Students can practice on how to put the PC components together and install different operating systems (Windows/Linux). So they can experiment with multiple OS platforms, how to configure computer peripherals and also familiarize with MASM programming and hardware toolkit.
Ø Computer Network lab
This laboratory provides students with the basics of networking. They are familiarized with various networking protocol like TCP, UDP & FTP. This lab experiments on socket programming, internet routing and client server communication.
Ø Computer Graphics lab
This lab is established for making the students aware of the concepts underlying modern Computer Graphics. At the end of the course the student will have the generic skills to design algorithms for line plotting, circle drawing with Bressenhams method and 2D geometric transformations.
Ø Systems lab
This lab focuses on two major areas
1. Operating systems lab provides the students an opportunity to familiarize linux OS including linux commands and system calls. It also enable the students to gain practical knowledge on various problems in OS like deadlock, synchronization etc.
2. Database systems lab emphasizes on various applications in traditional database like transactional database and SQL querying. It enables the student in understanding various SQL commands used in managing the database.
Ø IT/Internet lab
College of KMCT has a very good internet lab facilitating around 100s of PC supporting net connection. There are a set of routers and Ethernet hub with a data transmission of 10 Mbps. Students of KMCT can employ this facility for their academic purpose.
Departmental Association
VOICE is the association of Computer Science and Information Technology department of KMCT College of Engineering. The Association of Computer Science and Information Technology Department of the college have a prestigious working history inside the college. Initially the association was named as "VIRUS". From 31st October 2011 the association is renamed as "VOICE", acronym of Vision Of Intelligent Computer Engineers. The association is organized and will be operated exclusively for academical, technical and cultural development of members in furtherance of:

Research Activities
Ø Campus ERP
Campus ERPis a web-based enterprise solution (ERP) developed by the alumni incorporated with eminent faculties of Computer Science and Information Technology Department under the guidance of our beloved Dean of KMCT College of Engineering. It is a complete automated system to handle all the information related to students and all the other resources of a campus. It helps to manage different users of the system like Registrar, Students, Parents, HODs, Faculties, Librarian, Accounts and Administration. The management can have a bird’s eye view of all aspects of a college at the click of a mouse while individual users have access to their respective area of operation. The research activities are still ongoing to constantly improvise the ERP solution. Apart from KMCT College of Engineering, the Campus ERP has already implemented in 7 other colleges.
